Due to requests from our YTT graduates for a refresher course, we are pleased to announce this new approach to brush up on your skills, get back on the mat and refresh your practice. Enjoy a strong daily practice in a lush tropical setting designed for evolution. This course is a 100 hour immersion, suitable for existing teachers or anyone who practices regularly. The curriculum includes a balance of asana, pranayama and meditation as well as lectures, workshops and time to enjoy the island.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The curriculum for the 100 hour Refresh Retreat is based on the fundamentals of our infamous 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. We've boiled our complex 200 hours worth of training into the bare essentials, giving the student a chance to experience some of the topics we would normally cover in an efficient and approachable way. Daily asana and meditation practice give a grounded sense of routine while specific lectures and workshops allow for more focused learning.

Refresh your memory on over 200 asanas. We will work on correct alignment, breathing techniques and sequencing to ensure a safe and connected practice.

PRANAYAMa

Breathe the tropical island air as we review the essential aspects of kapalaphati, nadi sodhana, ujjai, and square pranayama.

MEDITATION

Begin each day with refreshing chakra breathing meditation, star breathing meditation, microcosmic orbit and other techniques.

THE VIKASA YOGA METHOD

Vikasa means evolution when translated from Sanskrit. The Vikasa Yoga Method is based on individual evolution and development. Nature is in a constant state of change. Our primary goal is evolution, and yoga can be seen as a tool to facilitate that. The Vikasa Yoga Method is an integral system of yoga based on classical Hatha yoga lineages, with some influence from Himalayan Buddhism and Taoism practices. The method is based on universal rules of yoga that ultimately allow the practitioner to develop highly intelligent and mindful practice. Our training starts with a physical foundation, evolving into energetic, mental, and emotional development.

WHO WILL TEACH ME?

The 100 hour Refresh Retreat is taught by Kosta Miachin, the founder of VIKASA along with his team of senior level yoga teachers. Our team is an eclectic group of international yogis with a variety of strengths and styles. All VIKASA teachers have graduated from teacher trainings with a minimum of 200 hour teaching certification recognized by the global yoga alliance.

Kosta is the founder of Vikasa. He teaches Vikasa style yoga in a range of levels, including some very challenging asana-based classes. Over the past 15 years he has completed several YTTs and has developed his own style of practice based on personal evolution. Kosta believes yoga is a journey and a conscious evolution of the individual. Seeing this as the ultimate human endeavor, he committed his life to supporting others on this path.

mikey lazano

Mikey has an encyclopaedic knowledge of yoga with particular specialisations in intelligent sequencing, yoga anatomy and functional, efficient movement. As well as having a broad and deep knowledge of yoga practices and history (having completed a number of trainings with Vikasa and Universal Yoga), Mikey also has a passion for teaching and a talent for making complex concepts accessible to all.

Niki believes that yoga can be life-changing, both on an individual and a collective level. And so her teaching, which she sees as her vocation, is focussed on tapping into yoga’s transformative capacity and providing a means for her students to embark on journeys of self-discovery. She has a background in psychology and an unwavering belief in the importance of combining the physical aspects of yoga with the often neglected spiritual aspects.

michael murray

While initially drawn to the physical aspects of yoga, Michael remains stimulated by the interplay between the physical practice and the more spiritual, inner-journey that can be opened up by the physical practice. In pursuit of this interplay, Michael teaches correct alignment and intuitive movement and also facilitates discussions and lectures on emotional intelligence and personal development.

The Refresh Retreat takes place at VIKASA Yoga Retreat on the tropical island of Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand. This location is easily accessible with direct flights from all major hubs in SEA such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, KL & Singapore. VIKASA was specially selected as a place for transformation due to its ideal balance of secluded island paradise, healthy, freshly-prepared food and 4 world class yoga salas constructed in a beautiful setting and designed to get results. Each week, you’ll also be able to fully explore the stunning, green, natural surroundings of Koh Samui, with its abundance of waterfalls, white-sand beaches and dense jungle, on your day off. Plus, you’ll have full access to all resort facilities including Wi-Fi, infinity pool, spa, Sky Gym and acclaimed VIKASA Life Café. Our team will pick you up at USM Samui international airport.

WHERE WILL I STAY?

VIKASA offers several types of accommodation ranging from simple eco-friendly bamboo bungalows to full-sized hotel style rooms. We are not a one-size-fits-all kind of place. We believe this range of accommodation allows for a wider range of students to attend the course. Our rooms celebrate simplicity, with minimal decorations. There are no TVs or fancy mini bars filled with chocolate and alcohol, but hopefully that’s not what you want to come here for. We are a relaxed establishment where you can unplug and reconnect to something deeper in a meaninful way. You will notice some of our room options have a "+" which means they are a little bit bigger and / or nicer than the standard category.
