Vikasa Yoga Academy is a certified yoga school where hundreds of students successfully pass intensive teacher training courses each year to receive a globally recognized 200-hour Yoga Alliance certificate.

Yoga Classes Schedule
(A) = All levels class, some experience recommended
(1) = Beginner or low intensity
(2) = Intermediate, or more intense (not recommended for beginners)
(F) = Free, no charge
Typical class duration – up to 90 min
Typical meditation duration – up to 45 min
COMPLETE class – up to 120 min (includes meditation & pranayama)
Class Description & Schedule
Complete Signature class, usually taught by the founder of Vikasa, Kosta, or senior teachers of Vikasa School. A 2 hour complete class which includes all elements of practice, such as Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. This class is the most rewarding and is close to the format taught during the Vikasa teacher training. Some yoga experience is recommended.
Beginners A class focused on learning correct technique and alignment in yoga poses. The instructor spends more time exploring asana technique with detailed instructions for safe and progressive practice. Especially useful for beginners.
Flow More focus on the asana practice itself rather then explanations on how to do it, allowing for deeper and steadier practice experience. Expect less explanations on how to do the techniques and more time to focus on the actual techniques. Flow does not mean the sequence will be fast. It is not about the speed of the class, but about being in the state of flow and concentration.
Ashtanga Fusion A mix up on the Ashtanga yoga primary series, maintaining the elements of bandha, dristhi, and breathing technique. Expect lots of variations from the original primary series sequence. Moderate intensity with variations for more experienced practitioners. Not recommended for beginners.
* due to a physical loss of voice the teacher is not able to speak loud enough, and uses a microphone to conduct the class. Sometimes it might be di cult to understand for non-english speakers, however he is the most experienced and humble yoga teacher at Vikasa, and a favourite of many who stay long enough.
Yin Yoga is characterised by longer holds in restorative, passive poses for up to 5mins each. Allows connective tissue in the body to realign for improved body awareness, relieves physical exhaustion, tension or soreness. Very relaxing and deeply meditative practice suitable for all levels. Expect more stillness and not a lot of movement in this class.
Pilates Based on exercises from hatha yoga, martial arts, ballet and gymnastics. It is an excellent method for developing a stable, strong core and overall fitness and health. Often successfully relieves chronic pain from postural imbalance.
Special Experiences (FREE OF CHARGE)
Meditation / Pranayama Meditation is the outcome of self cultivation and internalisation. At Vikasa we teach many techniques to induce a meditative experience. Some classes will also include pranayama, or breathing techniques, depending on the teacher.
Gong A 45 minutes sound therapy class. A large gong instrument plays varying levels of powerful sound waves, enabling peaceful rise in one’s personal vibrations and manifestation of their current state of mind. Experiences vary greatly from person to person.
Singing Bowls A gentler sound therapy class. As you lay down eyes closed, unique singing bowls are played in synchronization. The teacher may bring the singing bowl closer to you to allow special different experiences of vibration. For relaxation.
Candle Gazing This interesting form of meditation called Trataka can be very powerful when used as a healing and purification therapy for the eyes and to boost better sleeping habits.
Acro or partner yoga is a form of acrobatic exercises where one person is the “base”, and the other is “flying” on the base, or performing yoga poses while balancing on the “base”. This class is challenging and can be a lot of fun, but is for all levels.
