Congratulations on completing your foundation level yoga teacher training. You’ve proven yourself as being serious in your practice and accepting yoga as an important part of your journey. The next level of yoga teacher training will push you even further into physical and spiritual depths. During the advanced yoga teacher training we will get even further into the art of sequencing. Bring the focus back to your own practice again, take a break from teaching others and do it all in the immersion of our fresh island air over the open ocean. This course is 100 hours and is designed as a continuing education program. Advanced Teacher Training represents Level 3 of our intensive 700-hour comprehensive training program.

Introduction: Vikasa Yoga was founded by Konstantin Miachin as an integral system of yoga, a philosophy and inclusive lifestyle. Our philosophy is based on traditional concepts of hatha yoga, adapted for the modern life in western society. Regardless of your level of asana practice, this system provides all the necessary techniques for the attainment of high spiritual aspirations and excellent overall physical health. This course is considered the third part of the full 700-hour RYS Vikasa Yoga Teacher Training Program. This teacher training program will focus on advanced sequencing in hatha yoga, using rules and principles of Himalayan Vinyasa and Mandala sequencing. Different sub-styles of yoga will also be introduced with practices that challenge experienced students and are accessible to all levels of practitioners. There will be morning and evening intensives practices, where different sequence will be taught to support your capacity towards development. Precise explanations of the methodology will be given including unique tools for creation of beautiful sequences. In theory sessions we will examine the effect of such sequences on physical, energetic and informational aspects of our bodies. Some attention will be given to references from yogic texts, such as Hatha Yoga Pradipika by Swami Swatmarama and Gheranda Samhita. The lectures will include theory, history, teaching methodology and discussions. Also, more emphasis will be placed on physical adjustments. Another major topic is giving options to students in order to be able to teach a mixed level class with beginners and advanced students in one room. Each teacher should be able to give three variations of each pose while teaching a class: a base pose, a simplification for beginners, and modification for advanced students. Lastly, creation of personal programs for your students will be explained, giving you the opportunity to go beyond teaching private lessons with very limited benefits, and allow you and your students to maximize your potentials.Through daily yoga asana practice and lectures, we will explore a variety of yogic concepts and methods to create a new approach to this ancient practice. Students will be challenged to explore and expand upon their personal yoga practice in order to develop creative, conscious and intelligent teaching techniques.

Our goal: Our intention is to guide our students to be great teachers. Our courses are designed to give enough information for each student to be able to pursue the goal of enlightenment through spiritual practice using the ancient and modern yoga techniques and findings. Each individual can use and adapt these techniques for themselves and any other student individually, mindfully, safely and effectively. Of course this depends on successful completion of the entire program, not just one module or course. Please be aware that you are still at the beginning of your journey, and some results require more time and practice than others. We at Vikasa believe in the way of yoga, in choosing a direction and moving forward in that direction, without attaching yourself to the result. Just keep learning and practicing, and all will happen when the time comes.

Vikasa Yoga: Vikasa Yoga is an integral system of yoga resulting from classical Hatha yoga, Himalayan Vinyasa and higher Taoism practices. A fusion of the three lineages allows for a very effective and complete system resulting in personal evolution. Specific religious attributes found in certain lineages have been removed from the teachings, leaving the focus on the most effective techniques. The techniques and understandings are to be collected and processed through self practice with an emphasis on personal interpretation and contribution. It is an honest system with self development, self actualization, and individuality at its core. Emphasis is placed on the journey, or evolution of an individual. Encouraging evolution leads to a natural progression of individuality where uniqueness is celebrated as a natural piece of the oneness we are all  part of. This opposes the often found dissolution of identity and ego which can inspire conformity and unnecessary isolation. A careful distinction is drawn between oneness and conformity. Oneness being the acceptance of what is, including all that is around you and inside you. Conformity is referenced to include unimportant religious practices and dogmatic systems. The system encourages function within an existing society, rather than against it or apart from it. This allows for deeper connections with the spiritual and physical beings that surround us on a daily basis. It is possible to reach your personal goals using principles of energy conservation, transformation and Taoist circulations. When individuality is inspired and oneness within community is celebrated, the teachings become inclusive of infinite possibilities.

Konstantin Miachin   Konstantin is an international yoga teacher and founder of Vikasa Yoga studio based in Koh Samui, Thailand. He has been passionately learning, practicing, and teaching Yoga for over six years, and his passion has lead him to search out his own personal development throughout the world. This quest has brought him into contact with many different schools and masters all over the world, in places such as Rishi-kesh, Uttar Kashi, Gangotri, Kerala, Goa, Canada, Thailand, Hong Kong and Ukraine to name a few. He has completed teacher trainings in three different disciplines, including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yoga 23 (by master Andrei Siderski) and Sivananda. Such an overwhelming wealth of knowledge has led to a deeper understanding of yoga practice as an ever evolving process – rather than a finalized system, as a tool for evolution of a human being – rather than a goal in itself. Hence, the concept of “Evolution of Yoga” was born. The concept of “evolution of yoga” is based on the notion that everything in the world evolves constantly, including human beings. Our primary goal as a human race and that of any living organism is evolution, and yoga can be seen as a tool to facilitate such evolution in any given individual. However, as the practice of yoga itself changes with time and place, as new techniques are being introduced, the approach is becoming more technical, precise and scientific, any definition of it as a system or style seems to be a limitation in itself. Therefore, the “Evolution of Yoga” approach has to be seen as an ever-evolving process, based on classical hatha yoga techniques, which anyone can be a part of, rather than a complete static system.
